Stage Technician

Reports To: Technical Director Employment Status: Hourly

Position Description
The Stage Technician performs some or all of the technical tasks on the day-of-show based on the needs of the client or performer.

Primary Objectives
-Successfully execute the technical demands of every performance in a professional and efficient manner
-Be an approachable, customer service oriented facilitator to each client or performer.

Preferred Skills
-Lighting Designer/tech for live concerts and other events
-Proficient on an ETC Ion
-Must be able to work/design on the fly with limited preshow work time
-Proficient with MAC250 moving lights

-Ensure that KPC technical equipment is operated properly
-Maintain a clean and organized stage as well as equipment storage areas
-Coordinate with House Management about preshow, intermission, and post show logistics for events
-Apply appropriate procedures in the event of an emergency
-Arrive prepared and on time for every event
-Fall into any backstage roll as needed for a given event

Job Requirements
-Ability to work as a member of a team and take direction respectfully
-Be a day-of show liaison for KPC between clients, performers, and patrons while providing excellent customer service with knowledge of KPC house rules
-Understand general performance logistics and have an ability to anticipate inefficiencies
-Logically troubleshoot technical issues
-Clearly and correctly fill out all necessary performance reports (and incident/injury reports if needed)
-Be a self-sufficient specialized operator of at least one technical aspect of performance
-Must be able to read, write, and communicate in fluent English
-Experience in theater including knowledge of sound, lighting, audio/video equipment, stage rigging, carpentry, and event coordination is preferred

-Bachelors, associates, or vocational degree preferred. Equivalent experience and training certificates considered.

Work Environment
-General theatre environment with technical booths, stage, rigging, and auditorium
-Usage of technical equipment including (but not limited to) lighting/audio consoles, fly-rail, + skyjack
-394-seat theater auditorium with adjacent backstage area for the containment of production equipment, musical instruments, performance props, and costumes
-Often-crowded public foyer area where food and hard + soft beverages are served and consumed during performance intermissions
-Work indoors with occasional loud noises, dimly lit areas, and publically crowed spaces

Physical Demands
-Must be able to lift fifty pounds overhead
-Evening and weekend work common
-Prolonged periods of standing and sitting
-Must have good vision
