Carnival of Illusion is Arizona's longest running theatre show with four Arizona locations. We're looking high, low, and behind the curtains for a Stage Manager (a wildly detailed and hands-on make-it-happen guru) for our up-close illusion show. Performances run select Saturdays September through May (with a few Fridays and summer dates.) Due to the small and efficient theatre crew, this position will have opportunities to build leadership and planning skills and share innovative ideas to help the show run even more smoothly and efficiently.

Our ideal Stage Manager...
* Oversees the staging of lights, sound, set, costumes, and other equipment
* Enthusiasm for all details of theater including stage hand, costuming, property, sound, and lights
* Performs pre-show checks, prop management, inventory and maintenance/recommendation lists
* Trains and supervises stage crew in load-in, load-out, and safety procedures
* Responsible for magical props and technical support
* Support actors
* Excellent team building and interpersonal skills creating a fun and inclusive environment
* Up to date on technology, systems, and equipment to make recommendations as well as assist with digital light mixer, sound board, DMX LED fixtures, microphones, video, etc.
* Ensures adherence to procedures, objectives, and safety and work towards company goals
* Confirms or performs as needed: doors, lights, fire extinguishers, thermostat, glow tape, cleans area, house manager, safety, etc.
* Performs other job-related duties that would help the production and management
* Create up-to-date stage manager manual of job responsibilities
Emergency costume and prop repair

Minimum Job Requirements
* Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
* Can-do positive work attitude with creative and resourceful problem solving skills
* Sharp eye and detail-oriented list-making organization hero
* Basic understanding of all technical demands of a production: lights, sound, props, set changes, make-up changes, and special effects
* Kind, polite, respectful, and calm manner who can encourage and lead others to achieve a high standard of backstage discipline and be a delight to work with
* First to arrive, last to leave
* Burning desire for experience and theatrical know-how
* Clean and tidy personal appearance, grooming and hygiene
* Desiring ongoing work

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
* Physical stamina is essential and often expected to help move or lift props
* Occasional lifting up and/or transferring objects up to 30lbs with kneeling and reaching
* May involve exposure to hazards or physical risk and must follow basic safety procedures
* Regular unsocial hours with evening and weekend work and long hours are typical
* Self-employment or freelance work is possible
* Primarily work in the greater Phoenix area to (including Mesa and Tempe) but on occasion at the Tucson theater and off-property corporate/private events
