Lighting/Technical Director
The Theatre Production Supervisor serves as the technical director and production supervisor under the direction of the Theatre Manager, providing technical direction, lighting design and supervision for Shannon Center performances and college-related events, as well as working with the Department of Theatre + Communication Arts to assist with their productions as needed. The position is considered full-time with weekly hours varying per week, depending on the production schedule, which will include multiple working weekends during the academic year.

Salary Range: $34, 319.97; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

Reports To: Theatre Manager

Location/Department: Whittier College (Main Campus)/Shannon Center

Responsibilities:
1. Rigorously maintain a safe working environment and safe working practices as part of providing technical support for the Shannon Center.
2. Oversight of technical support operations, including: lighting, sound and staging load-in, setup and strike; maintenance of stage equipment; and ordering of expendable supplies.
3. Serve as lead lighting designer/technician, including hang and focus of lighting instruments.
4. Provide supervision of stage rigging for Shannon Center productions.
5. Instruct and supervise a part-time, paid student technical staff and also theater technology laboratory students in all aspects of lighting and sound reinforcement.
6. Supervise student crews as needed during technical rehearsals and performances, as well as additionally assigned work calls.
7. Serve as chief technical liaison cooperating with the performing arts centers Theatre Manager and Operations Assistant, as well as maintaining a high level of professionalism as the contact person for visiting artists and technical personnel.
8. Work with the Department of Theatre + Communication Arts to assist with their productions as needed.

Position Specifications and Requirements:
Previous Experience: Minimum two years relevant full time experience working in a theatre or play house, specifically with lighting.

Knowledge and Education: The position requires a minimum of a B.A. or B.F.A in
theatre with a strong lighting and technology emphasis, or the equivalent in work
experience and training. Additional graduate training and experience in lighting
technology, technical direction, stage rigging, and supervision of theatre students and
student employees is preferred.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: . A broad knowledge of and ability to work with lighting and sound equipment, particularly with the ETC ION. Able to use personal computer, spreadsheet and word processing software; work with theater-related software, such as VectorWorks, AutoCAD and Litewright. Work with standard office equipment, such as telephone, calculator, copier, fax machine, printer, etc
