Founded by George Washington Copp Noble in 1866, Noble and Greenough School is a rigorous academic community dedicated to motivating and inspiring students to achieve their highest potential and to lead lives characterized by service to others. A co-educational, non-sectarian day and boarding school for students in grades seven (Class VI) through twelve (Class I), Nobles has a current enrollment of just over 600 studentsincluding approximately 50 five-day boarders.

The Nobles Performing Arts Department seeks to hire a Resident Costume Designer for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Professional theatre experience and a BA, BFA, or MFA in theatre is strongly preferred. We seek candidates who would bring a diversity of backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to young people.

We produce three high school mainstage productions, one middle school production, and a dance concert each year. Our Resident Costume Designer will serve as the designer for each of these five events. In addition, they will serve as master stitcher, maintain budgets, manage any overhire staff, attend production meetings, handle any rentals or loans of costumes from other local companies, complete strikes and restores of all costumes, design and realize hair and make-up, plan and execute the tech of costumes into productions, organize costume stock, supervise student run crews, and perhaps most importantly, train and inspire students.

The time commitment is mostly 2pm to 5:30pm on weekdays, with some Saturday and evening calls. We hope to hire a single costumer to join our company for the full 2020-2021 season. Should we not find the right person with full-year availability, we will hire on a production by production basis. Finally, please note that, if our 2020-2021 production calendar is modified due to the pandemic, this position could be similarly adjusted.

Compensation will be based on experience and on a season contract.

Please submit cover letter, resume, online portfolio (both design and construction), and references to Erik Diaz, Director of Technical Theatre and Design. Applications will begin being reviews on May 26th.
