About Smuin
Founded in 1994, Smuin is San Franciscos premier contemporary ballet company. We perform in four Bay Area cities for audiences of 30,000 people annually. Each year, we present world and West Coast premiere ballets. Smuin is known for our distinctly American style that combines classical ballet training with evocative and entertaining choreography.

Overview
SMUIN is accepting applications for the position of Sound + AV / Asst Technical Director. This position is an integral part of a 4-person production team and reports directly to the Production Director. Smuins typical performance schedule includes 3 distinct programs in San Francisco, Walnut Creek, Carmel and Mountain View annually as well as other possible performances in additional cities.

Duties include but are not limited to:
maintenance of all company sound and AV equipment
maintaining inventory of all source and show media
attending rehearsals in the studio to become familiar with both music and choreography of every piece
providing editing as requested by choreographers and/or the ballet master
producing rehearsal and back-up show CDs for use in the studio and the theatres
downloading rehearsal footage from studio GoPro, then uploading it to a private Vimeo account for choreographer and dancer use
loading in and out sound, AV, and headsets in every venue
producing sound and AV running sheets for each ballet and venue
setting sound levels in every venue
taking responsibility for volume and quality of sound in every performance
where possible, operating sound board during all rehearsals and shows in venues
assisting both the Technical Director and the Lighting Director during load ins and load outs
assisting TD with warehouse work and all truck loads at both the warehouse and venues
driving 24 trucks both locally and on tours as needed
assisting the Production Director in activities related to mounting new ballets
assisting any and all outside Sound and/or Video Designers in pre-production work

Requirements include:
Three to five years experience in professional sound and AV in theater environments with both digital and analog boards
Proficiency with QLab, editing software, GoPro, and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel)
Background in technical theatre
Personal vehicle for errands in the Bay Area directly related to SMUIN
Valid Drivers License
Ability to lift 60+ lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with dance companies
Video editing
Strong team work and collaboration skills
Excellent problem solving skills

The position is seasonal with health benefits.

2017 2018 season: Guaranteed 27 week contract
Salary: Competitive
