AV Technician - Touring

Break the Floor Productions is one of the world's preeminent dance entertainment companies, encompassing touring theatrical productions, dance workshops, photo and video production, corporate events and apparel. With a broad range of business prospects and a reach of over 500,000 dancers annually, we are largely responsible for the transformation of the dance entertainment industry.

We are currently seeking video technicians for upcoming national tours in the United States, Canada + Mexico. A valid passport and ability to enter Mexico and Canada is mandatory for this position. Applicants must be based in Los Angeles and have a basic knowledge of theatrical production, including audio, video and lighting.

We are currently staffing the following dance convention/competition tours:

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
- manage local stagehand labor to ensure proper show setup at the discretion of your tour Production Manager
- setup and maintenance of all playback elements including projectors, LED walls and plasma TVs.
- setup, operation and teardown of all audio elements on tour
- camera operating either a FOH camera (Sony PMW or EX3) or Jib (Cammate) during event. No prior experience is needed for either of these, all training will be provided.
- maintaining equipment either through self-servicing on site
- assisting with staging setup and breakdown
- assist with truck loading and unloading

- managing a crew of 3-5 people during load-in and out
- working long hours in high-pace theatrical production environment
- basic A/V experience (including basic audio PA system setup) is necessary to apply for this position.

This is not strictly an audio position. You will be expected to assist with video and staging elements as part of your normal weekend responsibilities.

Time Commitment and Travel:
Applicants must be available for all cities of the tour they are assigned. During show weekends, you will be flown out of Los Angeles on Thursday, and return on Monday from any of Los Angeles' major airports including LAX, Burbank, + Long Beach. Break the Floor covers all flight, hotel and transportation to and from the host city airport. You are responsible for getting to and from the airport in LA.

Applicant must also be available to work our major events in the summer, these include:
* The Dance Awards Las Vegas (6/30/17-7/7/17)
* The Dance Awards Orlando (7/12/17-7/19/17)
* Dance Teacher Summit NYC (8/2/17-8/5/17
* DancerPalooza Long Beach (Final dates TBD) This is typically a 7 day event that will take place in late July or early August.

Shop Work:
Prior to each tour, you will need to commit to a minimum two weeks of paid training and shop work to prepare for the tour at our production facility in North Hollywood, CA. This training period will start in early September. There will also be the opportunity to work additional hours at the shop during off-weeks as well as Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the tour season.

$1000 per city average. Shop Pay begins at $17.50/hr.
We also provide a bonus for successful completion of contract.
