About the Department
Valley Performing Arts Center includes two venues, a 500-seat auditorium, and the new 1700-seat state of the art proscenium theater/concert hall. VPAC presents about 50 performances per year of world-class artists of all genres and disciplines. Located in the nation's second largest market, Los Angeles, VPAC operates at the highest level of professional and artistic excellence.

Major Duties
Under direct supervision of the Technical Director or designee, the Stage Tech G2 (Production Operations) assists the VPAC technical staff with events/performances on an "on-call" basis. The incumbent works to maintain and improve the integrity, condition and value of the facilities as world-class performing arts and cultural centers for the campus and larger community; holds responsibility for providing technical and production services in one or more of the core production areas of audio, electrics, carpentry, properties, and wardrobe or others; may hold the lead position on work calls or to a team of technicians as delegated; assists in training and overseeing production crews; assists in the organization, planning, and execution of all aspects of an event; identifies technical needs; evaluates and interprets working drawings for technical requirements; assists in supervising back stage activity; assists in managing production labor, supplies and equipment; directs stage crews on proper use of equipment and safety protocols; assists in advanced planning and implementation of production needs for events/performances; works to smoothly integrate the mission of the University and VPAC by ensuring a positive experience for all artists, faculty, students, staff, and community; works in other production areas as assigned and skills warrant; and performs other duties as assigned.

Equivalent to four years of experience working for a theater, repertory, or stock company with emphasis in one or more of the production areas of audio, electrics, carpentry, properties, and wardrobe or others. Demonstrated experience and/or skills in leading staff on a task or goal. Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in the Arts or job-related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, + Abilities
Knowledge of technical theatre and operating theatre technical systems that includes leadership and experience concentration in one or more of the core production areas of audio, electrics, carpentry, properties, and wardrobe or others. Knowledge of theatre etiquette, standards, and protocol. General knowledge of methods and techniques related to theatre facilities; principles and techniques of design and production; and safety requirements and standards related to the core production areas of audio, electrics, carpentry, and stage rigging. Have good customer service and public relations skills, with the ability to work under pressure of deadlines and with a wide variety of personalities in the execution of events. Ability to: work with minimum supervision and as part of a team under general supervision; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Must be outgoing and enjoy working with people. Comfortable working at heights above six feet. Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 65 lbs.

Pay, Benefits, + Work Schedule
The salary range for this classification is: $20.13 - $33.33 per hour.
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $20.13 - $25.00, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

HOURS: Intermittent; On-Call; Saturday-Sunday; Time of day and quantity of hours vary and are scheduled based on facility needs and staff availability; Temporary-renewable, end date to be determined.
