Part Time Salaried annually

Spectrum Dance Theater is looking for a part-time salaried Technical Director for the upcoming season and beyond. Spectrum is Seattles second largest dance company and has gained international renown under the leadership of Artistic Director and Choreographer Donald Byrd. The TD will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of 3-4 local productions as well as 2-3 short tours both around the US and internationally per year. Local performances will occur in rental houses including Seattle Reps Leo K Theatre, the Cornish Playhouse, and the Moore Theatre. 1 workshop production is also typically held per year at Spectrums studio on Lake Washington.

Draft working drawings for all scenic elements from designers drawings
Schedule use of rental shop space to construct sets
Transport scenic elements to and from performance venues and storage unit
Hire and oversee additional labor as needed to complete tasks
Write tech rider for new productions as they are created and update current riders when changes are made to show needs in
collaboration with Production Manager and Company Manager
Serve as primary point of contact for venue on all technical issues. Coordinate technical needs with venues in advance of
performances including drapery, lighting, costume, and scenic needs and crew numbers.
Draft tech week schedules in coordination with stage manager and/or production manager
Oversee load in of show to venue and readiness to begin tech process on company arrival.
Transport scenic elements in box truck for touring productions
Attend all technical rehearsals to solve problems as needed.
Manage production budgets and report all expenses to executive director and accountant on a show by show basis.
Attend weekly production meetings
Coordinate all technical elements for workshop productions with production manager including sets, lighting, and seating
Work with Production Manager to maintain scenic storage unit organization

Required Skills:
Proficiency in CAD drawing software (AutoCAD preferred)
Knowledge of scenic engineering in both steel and wood
Knowledge of stage rigging standards
Valid WA drivers license
Ability to track and accurately report production budgets
Experienced with Microsoft Office Word and Excel

Preferred Skills:
Experience working with IATSE union crew
Possess own CAD software license
Possess own vehicle capable of transporting props and materials
Experience driving 26 box truck
MIG Welding
