Reporting to the Chairperson and the Managing Director of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts (DFPA), the Operations Manager of the Mundelein Center serves as the primary point person to the Department and the University for coordinating all activities scheduled in the Mundelein Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. The Mundelein Center is the largest academic building on the Lakeshore Campus, in addition to being the primary home of the DFPA. Mundelein Center houses the DFPAs primary performance venues, (Newhart Family Theatre, Mundelein Auditorium, Underground Theatre, Skowronski Music Hall) specialized classrooms and workshops (theatre shops, fine arts studios, music practice rooms, theatre and dance studios) and the majority of faculty and staff offices in addition to a variety of shared spaces including reception space, meeting space and a caf+eacute;. In addition to over 100 courses offered each semester, the DFPA produces over 80 annual events including music concerts, theatre performances, dance concerts and gallery exhibitions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing daily operations of the Mundelein Center and other DFPA facilities, anticipating all aspects related to near and future events and formulating and maintaining operational policies.
-Maintains a department wide master calendar of DFPA activities including class schedules, rehearsals calendars, load in and technical activities, and performances. Coordinate the appropriate reservations with Campus Reservations for spaces not within the departments complete scheduling control.
-Serves as Concert Manager for all concerts and recitals and manages and provides production and logistical support to produce an annual offering of 10-12 major concerts, and 12-15 smaller recitals and other music events. Collaborates with the Director of Ensembles and other Ensemble Directors to provide logistical support; develops appropriate schedule of coordinating meetings, rehearsal schedules, load-in of equipment including band shells, choir risers and instruments and presides over coordinating meetings, technical/dress rehearsals to and event management of performances. Coordinates with the Lighting and Sound Supervisor on the appropriate support needed and generates running sheets and set-up diagrams.
-Manages the Mundelein Auditorium facility, including platform stock, draperies, organization of music and instrument storages and the in collaboration with the Sound and Lighting Supervisor for the technology in the space. Schedule, coordinate and manage the facility use of any non DFPA events. Outside of the DFPA, Operations Manager would serve as a resource for all other university departments and student organizations that schedule activities in the Mundelein Auditorium or other programmable spaces in the Mundelein Center. (Palm Court, Cardinal Suite, etc.)
-Maintains DFPA specialized classrooms and storages. Coordinates and establishes operational policies for all DFPA classrooms, performance venues, and workshops, including the creation and management of accurate room inventories.
-In conjunction with the Director of Public Programming, trains and supervises a student staff that supports the Information Desk, event support, building support and concert set-up. This may include coordinating deliveries, use of the loading dock, service elevators; coordinating logistical support for events hosted in the Mundelein Auditorium including the setting up of platforms, chairs, and coordination with external vendors.
-Serves as primary DFPA Liaison at with Campus partners (Facilities, Housekeeping, Information Technology, Campus Safety, Campus Reservations, etc.) and communicates all logistics as it relates to activities in the Mundelein Center.
-Coordinates Building Access and Hours with Campus Safety, and organizes special security considerations when needed.
- Works closely with Facilities and Housekeeping to ensure Mundelein Center is maintained; coordinates cleaning schedule, Coordinates regular cleaning and maintenance schedules, short and long term maintenance plans and assists with the preparation of equipment proposals.
- Creates and manages maintenance budget, maintains piano fleet, first aid supplies.
- Develops and implements operating policies related to the operations of the DFPA, including facilities, training and safety manuals, equipment inventories, check out policies, room guidelines and recording policies.
- In collaboration with Conference Services, establishes policies and pricing for use of the Mundelein Center by outside groups; provides cost estimates for labor and coordinates billing with rentals.
-Establishes regular and recurring interaction with all stakeholders including faculty, staff and students to ensure operational needs are being met.
- Maintains specialized DFPA spaces and equipment; arranges and supervises equipment maintenance, tuning and repair; maintains records and inventory

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelors degree in related field and three years of relevant experience.

Creative problem solver
Background in the performing arts
Managerial experience (specifically, stage management, production management, concert management or venue management (or any combination of the above)
Patience and a sense of humor
Experience supervising or mentoring students.

Computer Skills
Proficient Microsoft Office suite skills and adept user of Internet, email and other office automation systems. Project management software or experience with google sketch up or AUTOcad software desired.
