Chicago Flyhouse seeks Metal Shop Assistants to work with us to fabricate a wide array of items needed for our work in theaters, arenas, and more. Essential skills include MIG welding, drilling, cutting, grinding, layout, ability to read shop drawings, and attention to details like taking/reading accurate measurements and following specific instructions. Candidates should have experience working with machine tools, fabrication, hand tools, and a wide variety of materials and hardware. Excellent candidates will have aptitudes for organization, cleanliness, timeliness, and effective communication with a wide variety of personalities. Applicants should have a proven track record of effectively working as part of a team and independently. Though having rigging experience is preferred, a background in theater or building construction is not required. Applicants should be able to stand for long periods of time, be able to do repetitive manual tasks, lift 150lbs, be comfortable working at heights, have a valid Drivers License and clean driving record, and be dedicated to practicing and promoting exemplary safety protocols. To ensure a safe work environment for all, Flyhouse has a random drug testing policy. This is an hourly position to start, with potential for growth.


Primary Responsibilities To Include, But Not Limited To:
Fabricate with metal- MIG welding, drilling, cutting, grinding, etc.
Work safely and efficiently with machine tools, hand tools, and a wide variety of materials and hardware
Read and interpret shop drawings
Layout projects with an awareness of shop organization and workflow
Maintain high shop organization standards
Promote overall shop cleanliness and tool maintenance
Practice safety policies
Adhere to project deadlines and find efficiencies when those timelines change
Communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities
Work well independently and as part of a team
Focus on details and also see the overall, big picture of projects

Able to stand for long periods of time
Able to do repetitive manual tasks
Lift 150lbs
Be comfortable working at heights
Valid Drivers License and clean driving record
Background in theater or construction rigging is preferred but not required
Able to pass random drug tests to ensure safe working environment for all employees
