The Duluth Playhouse was founded in 1914 and is one of the nations oldest community theaters. We produce year-round season packed with dramas and musicals on our main stage along with a full season with our Childrens Theatre and Underground Theatre. We offer exceptional entertainment, training, and performance opportunities in theatre arts that inspire, challenge and engage the region we serve. Over 40,000 people attend a Playhouse show each season with visitors from across the region, the state, the nation, and even internationally. Live theatre is our passion, and we strive to make each performance better than the last.

The Charge Artist would take lead on and work closely with the TD, Designers and volunteers in the finishing of scenic elements, primarily through paint, to achieve the designers artistic vision. The Charge Artist is tasked with determining the proper techniques and materials in which to complete the look of the design.

Preferred applicants will have a strong background in scenic painting techniques, budgeting, and in time management; especially estimation. Prior experience as a scenic charge is preferable. Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds, and be comfortable working at heights. Experience with props and sewing are desired but not required. There may also be opportunities to design if desired.
