About Royal Design House:
Royal Design House (RDH) is a high-end, custom costume and costume management company. We work with traditional, old-line Carnival Clubs to facilitate the maintenance, organization and packing of each club's stock costumes for their annual masked ball, as well as create new custom gowns and costumes for those events.

Summary of Position:
The Costume Stock Supervisor executes and oversees the maintenance, organization, tracking, packing, and labeling of costumes in 10 stockrooms of around 300 costumes per room, performs basic secretarial tasks, oversees a small seasonal staff, high degree of interface with our clients.

This is a $24,000 annual salaried position, pay and benefits negotiable depending on experience. This is a year-round position, but it is not full-time hours for the entirety of the year.

Work Hours/Schedule:
RDH follows a Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, work week.

The following is a loose breakdown of the Costume Stock Supervisors annual schedule:
April 1-July 31: 3 consecutive days per week
August 1-November 30: 5 days per week, Monday-Friday
December 1-Mardi Gras Day: 5+ days per week as necessary
Post Mardi Gras-March 31: 4 consecutive days per week

Skills: Highly motivated, self-starter. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Competency in the use of computers (PC and Mac), basic word processing and spreadsheet software, smartphones and apps. Supervisory skills with the ability to oversee all levels of interns and employees. Phone manners and skills, with strong customer service background.

Mental Acuity: Must be able to remember faces, the names that go with them, and a multitude of small details. Ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines. Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously, while maintaining strict attention to detail. Ability to remain calm and composed in difficult and stressful situations, or with difficult customers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a positive attitude.

Physical Mobility: Requires a wide range of mobility and fine motor skills. Ability to stoop, reach, bend at waist, grasp and pick up objects, maneuver in cramped areas, move quickly, sometimes stand for long periods, lift and carry boxes and other heavy items, and climb ladders.

Environmental Conditions: Shop is in a modern, climate-controlled building, spaces include costume construction shop and costume storage areas. This is New Orleans and there may be mold in these areas. We provide mold protection gear and make an effort to use the least caustic cleaners possible, but during cleaning and maintenance of these costumes you may be required to use various cleaners, bleach, dye, aerosols etc.
