Music Academy International (MAI) organises every summer in the Italian Dolomites the Trentino Music Festival, which brings together several high level training programmes for young artists that wish to engage in a career in Chamber Music, Orchestra, Piano Performance, Collaborative Piano, Musical Theatre and Opera. We also have a new but nicely developing Suzuki programme for very young musicians, that often travel with their families.
MAIs goal is giving young artists the opportunity to work with other young artists, teachers and professionals from all over the world: all of our programmes offer training with an incredible group of faculty artists, and they follow the idea of learning by doing; unlike many other training programs for young artists, all of our participants - including the young Suzuki students - have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience, and the singers have the opportunity to perform in a staged production with a full band or orchestra.
The great number of performance that we offer to the public during the 6 weeks of residence is called Trentino Music Festival, and is becoming more and more recognised in the area as an important cultural appointment of the summer.

More detailed information on what we do can be found on the website at www.musicacademyinternational.org

In this context we also want to give young professionals and students in the production and administration fields an opportunity to share the experience and gain from a very unique opportunity both training and contacts with important professionals in their fields, and we are developing an internship programme in collaboration with several prestigious institutions around the world.

We are now looking to fill a Stage Management internship for the Musical Theatre programme; this is a non-paid internship, but we offer ground transfer (not airfare) by private bus from and to Venice airport (VCE) and provide housing in centrally located hotel or apartments. Arrival is on 2nd July and departure on the 29th.

Our Musical Theatre productions this summer will include 2 gala performances, Godspell and Chicago. Additionally the resto of the Festival and other events in the Valley will provide many other occasions to enjoy music and culture in the beautiful location of the Italian Dolomites.

All rehearsals and productions are run in English.

The successful candidate will work with a colleague and in conjunction with teachers, directors, music directors and production and administration staff in the creation of the weekly and daily schedule, which they would then distribute as appropriate. Each intern will take the lead in one musical and assist on the other, dealing with props sourcing (with the assistance of our props and costume team) and running, as well as coordinating any costume sourcing, fitting and running. S/he will be responsible for the smooth running of rehearsals and technical rehearsals and perform the traditional stage management duties. Both stage managers will assist in the rehearsals and running of the two outdoor galas.

Ours is a high-octane, hard-work environment, filled with good people, with fun to be had and many wonderful teachers, mentors and young talent on both sides of the stage.
We are looking for people that are open minded and quick on their feet and are ok with getting their hands dirty when needed.
The staff will provide moral and professional support, mentorship and brainstorming sessions, as well as whatever advice or tips the interns may need.
