New York Stage and Film has internship availability in our SOUND department for the 2017 Powerhouse Season. (June 11 - Aug 5, 2017).

Sound Interns assist Sound Department during tech and production including loading in, changing over, maintaining equipment, mixing, and sound board operation. Sound interns will get the chance to work and learn from a team of high caliber and professionally established sound designers throughout the Powerhouse season.

NYSAF internships provide the next generation of theater artists with an unparalleled opportunity to live, work, and train alongside top professionals. Staff and interns form a close community within the companys stimulating and supportive environment and engage in extraordinary collaborations with other skilled professionals and world-class artists.

Summer Interns will contribute to the Powerhouse Season, an eight-week residency and partnership with Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where each summer more than two hundred and fifty professional playwrights, directors, actors, and designers as well as close to fifty student apprentices live and work together. During the Powerhouse Season, NYSAF presents mainstage productions with full technical support, as well as workshops and readings of works in progress, all of which are open to the public. Interns will be provided with transportation at the beginning and end of the season, housing, and a small stipend.

Nearly 30 projects developed recently by NYSAF have had or will soon have major productions this year, including: Hamilton, by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Broadway); The Humans (Broadway); Bright Star by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell (Broadway); The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe (The Playwrights Realm); The Babylon Line by Richard Greenberg (Lincoln Center Theatre); A 24-Decade History of Popular Music by Taylor Mac (St. Anns Warehouse); The Light Years by The Debate Society (Playwrights Horizons); The Fortress of Solitude, by Michael Friedman and Itamar Moses (Public Theater + Dallas Theater Center); Found, book by Hunter Bell + Lee Overtree, music and original lyrics by Eli Bolin (Atlantic Theater Company); The Invisible Hand, by Ayad Akhtar (New York Theatre Workshop); Dry Land,by Ruby Rae Spiegel (Colt Coeur at HERE); Brooklynite, by Michael Mayer and Peter Lerman (Vineyard Theater); and Ripcord, by David Lindsay-Abaire (Manhattan Theatre Club).
