Full-Time Technical Theatre Teaching Artist
Description
The Theatre Arts Department at ASA seeks a passionate, skilled, and experienced teaching artist with a specialization in technical theatre, stage management, design, and technical direction. This is a full time teaching position. The position is a part of the Theatre Arts Department, and the instructor works alongside four other part time and full time teaching artists and one department chair/team leader. The Theatre Arts Department encourages candidates from a diversity of races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and theatrical training styles to apply.

Major Job Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities as assigned: 4 classes daily in design, production studies, and theatre foundations
Developing course content and curriculum in collaboration with the team leader and arts director
Participating in team meetings, faculty meetings, and trainings
Creating and sustaining a rigorous, positive, student-driven classroom environment
Technical direction of four productions per school yeartwo middle school and two high school productions
Technical direction of ASA Showcase at the end of the school year
Supervise Stage Managers throughout the school year on all ASA shows
Supervise and mentor student designers for all productions
Participation in various collaborative projects within and outside of the Theatre Arts Department

Requirements
Proven experience working with students of varying ages and experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in theatre arts field including teaching at the middle school and high school level including experience with school productions
Bachelors degree in Theatre required. MFA preferred but not required
Valid Arizona fingerprint card
Solid problem-solving skills
Demonstrates good judgment aligned with organization value and mission.
Strong planning and organizational skills
Flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting duties while maintaining focus and follow-through
Work professionally in a deadline-driven environment displaying excellent time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships
Ability to multi-task with a positive attitude and a sense of humor
Ability to excel in a highly collaborative environment
An interest in the connection between theatre, community, youth, education, and civic engagement
