Pay

Ampa Events, an event production company and scene shop, seeks an experienced Technical Director to work with our operations team. If you are seeking stable employment, wish to plant roots in one place and are interested in working for a company that has been in business for 25 years, this may be the job for you.

What qualities are we looking for?

Strong organizational and excellent communication skills for working with staff and clients. Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, self-starter and able to work individually or as a team member. As the technical director you will have 5+ years experience in technical theatre, scheduling staff and materials, experience with Autocad and/or Vectorworks or other CAD programs technical and fabrications skills, including welding, rigging, carpentry, lighting and AV.

Job responsibilities - Technical Director - Events

Management

1. Assume leadership role in all aspects of Ampa operations including but not limited to: scene shop, event installation, production management, inventory, scheduling, and customer service.
2. Lead by example and ensure staff compliance with all safety standards and standard operating procedures.
3 Facilitate efficient event inventory scheduling to include both materials and staff
4. Lead and participate in preproduction review process - oversee preproduction planning and anticipating production needs.
5. Maintain effective communication with designer, artistic director, operations manager, and production manager to ensure smooth development and installation of all set designs.
6. Assist in managing the organization and maintenance of Ampa scenery stock and equipment.

Scene Shop

1. Oversee and participate in the technical design, engineering, drafting, and construction of all scenery. 2. Create and maintain technical drawings.
3. Build props and scenery as part of the scene shop team.
4. Oversee seamstress tasks to include:
- Building and repairing of soft goods
- Building and repairing of shipping covers (socks)

Event Installation

1. Actively oversee event production and manage event crew to execute on-time installations.
2. Assume production manager role as needed on high profile client events and assume client liaison role when working events.
3. Set up and operate scenery, lighting, general A/V systems, and other equipment to meet client needs. Enforce safe rigging and installation practices.
4. Maintain irregular and extended working hours; able to lift, push or pull objects up to 75 pounds using appropriate tools.
6. Safely drive box trucks and pull utility trailers as needed for event installations.

Other Duties as Assigned

1. Assist as needed in all aspects of Ampa business, including but not limited to: administrative, sales, installation and warehouse operations.
