The Palace Theatre in Manchester, New Hampshire has an immediate opening for an experienced Master Carpenter to assist and complete the build for Million Dollar Quartet. The Palace Theatre is a regional theatre company that produces eight professional musicals annually in a beautiful and historic 102 year old theatre.
The Master Carpenter is responsible for the planning, execution and completion of all scenic elements of the Palace Theatres professional productions. An eye for design is strongly preferred as the Master Carpenter will be asked to assist in the overall scenic design for the professional shows.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
Collaborating and communicating with the Artistic Director and the venues Technical Director to fulfill the scenic requirements of each production
Attending all production and design meetings
Creating shop drawings/plans, materials list and other advance work to prepare for scenic build
Purchasing of all materials
Hiring of additional carpenters, scenic painters and load-in/load-out crew
Serving as lead carpenter and supervising additional carpenters in scenic build
Tracking scenic budget throughout build and maintaining communication with the venues Technical Director
Organize and supervise the transportation and load-in of the set into the theater
Attending all technical rehearsals and addressing all notes coming from technical rehearsals
Supervising load-out and transportation of the scenic elements back to scene shop and storage
Assist with storage organization and inventory
Must have valid drivers license and be able to operate a 26 foot box truck
Willingness to work nights and weekends with an occasional long work week
Assist other departments when requested

The ideal candidate will have educational background in Technical Theater and at least 3 years of professional theater experience as a Master Carpenter or Assistant Technical Director with skills in planning, engineering and theatrical construction and fabrication (including carpentry and welding). He/she must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Salary is paid based on a show to show contract with the possibility of a full-time position for the right candidate. Pay is weekly and housing is provided. This contract has an immediate opening and will be complete on Friday June 9th, 2017. Dates can be flexible.
