Cortland Repertory Theatre, a professional summer theatre celebrating our 47th year is accepting resumes for a Stitcher / Costume Shop Supervisor position in our 2018 summer season. We are located in upstate New York, a half hour south of Syracuse, on the edge of the Fingerlakes Region.

Our Summer Season runs from May 21 Sept 8. Shows include Rough Crossings, Saturday Night Fever, Newsies, Our Town, Women in Jeopardy and The Rat Pack Lounge plus the childrens show Dorothy Meets Alice.

The theatre is an intimate (30 x 30, with 10 proscenium height) 250 seat, three-quarter round thrust stage, located on the second floor of a national historic building. Costume shop is located 20 minutes from theatre.

Salary is $475 a week. Travel expenses to Cortland are reimbursed up to $100. Housing is provided in single room/shared suite. We work 6 days a week; payday is Thursday of each week.

The Stitcher / Costume Shop Supervisor is responsible for:
In collaboration with the Costume Designer, assist with the sewing, construction and alteration of all costumes for all the mainstage and childrens theatre productions;
Assist with the pulling and/or borrowing/renting of costumes as required by the costume designer;
Supervision, organization and record keeping of departmental budgets;
Ordering supplies, organization of costume shop and maintenance of equipment during season;
Supervise and execute the laundering, cleaning, repair, restocking and return of above mentioned materials;
Provide expertise and advise in areas of hairstyle, wigs and makeup;
Coordination with Stage Manager to schedule fittings as required;
Assign, delegate and personally participate in all load-ins and strikes;
Maintenance of inventory list at the end of season;
Pack, clean and close shop at the end of season.

Excellent time management skills.
Excellent skills in costume construction and modification techniques.
Established track record in executing designers needs for a consistent overall production.
Minimal 2 - 3 years experience in the costume construction field, or college equivalent.
Excellent personnel, organizational, time management and communication skills.
Proven ability to motivate, manage and coordinate staff members of varying skill levels.
Well-established skills in handling budgets and scheduling.
Driver's license with clean driving record. Own car REQUIRED.
