Virginia Opera, located in Norfolk, VA invites applications for the Master Electrician position for the upcoming 2017-2018 season. The position is full-time seasonal.

Duties: In charge of running the light calls at the Harrison Opera House, located in Norfolk VA, home base for the Virginia Opera as well as running the calls at our touring venues in Richmond and Fairfax, VA.
Act as Deck Electrician during show calls.
Assist Lighting Supervisor in maintaining all paperwork related to production (LightWright, spreadsheets, etc)
Responsible for all show and tour prep gel inventory, packing lists, rental gear, etc.
Maintain upkeep and maintenance of all lighting, sound and video equipment.
Manage and maintain Electrics Shop and Electrics Storage.
Maintain and update Electrics inventory of all equipment, tools, and consumables.
Position reports directly to the Lighting Supervisor.

Ideal candidate will have 1-3 years professional experience as a theatrical electrician.
Experience in running crews (Union, and Non-Union)
Experience with LightWright, Vectorworks, Microsoft Office, CAD.
Knowledge of/experience working with CD80 dimmer racks.
Knowledge of ETC consoles, specifically ETC EOS family to include networking systems.
Knowledge of Sound specifically setting up and running of clear- com headset communication
system, wired and wireless microphone, body mics, backstage and onstage audio, monitors and paging system.
Knowledge of Video + Projection setting up and running of maestro camera and monitors
Projections knowledge of Christy LW650 and Christy M Series
Roadster HD14K-M
Knowledge relating to building/repairing and trouble-shooting electric practicals and related equipment in a quickly and efficient manner.
Able and willing to work in high places.
Be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Valid Drivers License Required.
Able and willing to travel.
