Overview:

The National Comedy Center, a $50 million non-profit attraction based on the craft and it's contributors is currently looking for interns for its annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. This is a great opportunity to become involved with a non-profit organization with worldwide credibility, and also to gain real-life experiences and connections. This is an unpaid internship.

Each intern will have unique responsibilities and tasks based on the department they are working in, but a majority of all internships will be focused on organizing and operating various aspects of the 2017 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. This years festival will take place August 3-6 featuring Jim Gaffigan (additional comedians to be announced in coming months). Past festival performers include Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Lewis Black, Trevor Noah, Joan Rivers, Ellen DeGeneres, Paula Poundstone, Kathleen Madigan, Nick Offerman, Ray Romano, Bob Newhart, The Smothers Brothers and more than 100 other comedic artists. The festival attracts over 10,000 visitors from 37 states annually.

Responsibilities:

Assist with the event programming for the 2017 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival which features over 50 events in 4 days, over 50 artist, 70 production members, and 200 volunteers; Assist with hospitality and arrangements for entertainers during the comedy festival; Assistant stage manager for shows; Assist with proper, detail-oriented execution of artist contracts including talent and tech/production riders; Responsible for handling box office duties and taking comedy festival ticket orders; Other duties as appropriate and necessary.

Requirements:

Interns must be able to commit to 20 hours from approximately the beginning of May through the week after the 2017 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival concludes. Hours are flexible however, and can be scheduled accordingly; Knowledge and experience in the theatrical environment with an understanding of basic stage management, lighting, sound, and other technical aspects; The ability to execute outstanding hospitality to festival/museum guests and performers; Basic office skills including an understanding of Microsoft Office; Its pretty hard not to have a sense of humor, but it goes without saying that having a sense of humor is pretty important for us too.
