The Chicago Fringe Festival (CFF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a unique opportunity for artists and patrons alike to perform and enjoy intimate, boundary-pushing theatre. We produce an uncensored and non-juried festival which showcases 50 performing groups (nearly 200 performances!) over 9 days in five non-traditional theatre spaces. All performers are selected by first come, first serve and lottery. We return 100% of our ticket sales to the artists. And we keep the tickets prices low to provide access to the arts to the widest audience possible.
Established in 2010, CFF is currently produced by an all-volunteer staff which is dedicated to furthering the mission of CFF in this rapidly expanding stage of our history. Working with CFF is a great way to get involved with a fun and hard-working group of arts administrators and producers, to have a direct and immediate impact on the success of the festival through a collaborative but empowering work environment, to develop valuable skills and experience, and/or to connect with a wide range of artists, community members, business owners, etc.
The Daytime Fringe Central (DTC) Manager is a seasonal staff position that is responsible for acting as the day-time host at Fringe Central during the Festival. The DTC Manager reports to the Executive and Managing Directors and works closely with the Fringe Central Events Manager, Kids Fringe Coordinator, Education Manager, Marketing Manager, Box Office Manager, and the Volunteer Coordinator. This position will oversee a team of volunteers to ensure the smooth running of Fringe Central activities, including ticket and merch sales; space and logistics coordination between Kids Fringe, special events, etc.; patron engagement activities; etc. This position will also lead the decoration and set up planning for the Fringe Central space.
Qualifications:
Social, welcoming and personable demeanor.
Strong organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail.
Creative and flexible in response to problem solving.
Self-motivated with willingness to contribute ideas.
Great team attitude and ability to work and communicate on-deadline in a virtual environment.
Proven track record of solid work performance in past jobs and reliable attendance.
Experience with sales/ticketing a plus.
Familiarity with fringe festivals a plus.

Time Commitment:
This position requires approximately 5 hours per week in June-August. Then 8+ hours a day during set up (Aug. 29-30), the weekend/holiday days of the festival (Sept. 2-4, 9-10), and tear down (Sept. 11). Monthly meetings and the post-mortem in October are mandatory.

Salary: Stipend and Lots of Hugs
2017 Festival Dates: August 30 September 10, 2017
