The Head Electrician provides oversight, leadership and training to an integrated team of Electricians on a large scale arena touring production by assisting with the assembly, operation and disassembly of all lighting control equipment, power and signal distribution systems, moving lights and other set duties related to the production while maintaining the integrity of the artistic concept and adhering to Best Practice Safety Standards.

Essential Job Functions

-Operation, oversight and supervision in the setup and teardown of all show equipment pertaining to the electrics department and other equipment assigned to the Electrics Department while directing local crews in the loading, unloading, assembling and dissembling of all associated equipment.
-Manage, direct and assist in the repair and maintenance of all equipment related to the Electrics Department as directed by supervisors and Best Practice Standards.
-Ensure the safety and security of Electrical and Lighting equipment at all times including but not limited to power distribution equipment, dimmer racks, and consoles according to Best Practice Standards and Lockout TagOut Policies.
-Liaison with Show Management to ensure all members of the Lighting department are following cues to maintain high standards of quality established for the productions aesthetics and creative vision.
-Interface with Show Management to ensure that rigging and technical staff adhere to the proper execution of all training and safety programs and will maintain records as it relates to the touring production unit including but not limited to fall protection, equipment, forklift operation, chain hoist maintenance, LockOut TagOut documentation.
-Responsible for compliance with all local and Feld Entertainment Inc. safety policies and continually seeking to improve efficiency and safety within the Electrics department and overall production.
-Responsible for following the rules, regulations and guidelines set forth by Feld Entertainment Inc. as they pertain to the Marvel Universe Live Production.
-Conducts job specific training and develops contingency plans including cross training and emergency protocols.
-Assist in mediation of work related disputes within the Lighting Department.
-Performs regular administrative duties within and for the Lighting Department.
-Responsible for accepting all other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements

-Bachelor degree or higher in Technical Theatre and/or 10+ years real world experience as an Electrician/ Lighting Technician in the arena, theatre, movie or corporate touring industries as it relates to live performances.
-Ability to climb and work focus, adjust and repair at heights in excess of 55ft before, during and after performance and during rigging calls, load ins and load outs.
-Knowledge and or experience with AC and DC voltage systems; power distribution, dimmer and motor control operation, maintenance and repair; 500kw 3-phase generator knowledge and experience.
-Extensive knowledge in the operation, programming, maintenance and repair of Claypaky moving light fixtures; operation and programming of GrandMA, WholeHog and Martin M6 lighting consoles; media servers and time code systems.
-Understanding of theatrical terms and directions.
-Ability to lift over 75 lbs, stand for 2 hours and operate small hand tools.
-Ability to use and understand various kinds of test equipment and meters such as volt, ohm, scope and amp.
-Ability to solve practical problems and interpret diverse instructions furnished in various forms including verbal, written, blueprints and CAD documents.
-Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as write route reports and correspondence.
-Extensive understanding of electrical principles, formulas and drawings.
-Recognized as a proven team player with creative problem solving and strong trouble shooting capabilities.
-Ability to travel to Canada and other international locations.
-Ability and desire to tour year round.
