The Apprenticeship Training Program at Orlando Shakespeare Theater offers early career theater artists the opportunity to gain professional theater credits and training to help you make the transition from university-theater to the professional world.

Typically our Apprentices have just completed an undergraduate degree and are interested in pursuing a career in professional theater.

Our Apprentice Program participants gain experience working alongside our resident staff, guest designers and directors. They also gain contacts, career guidance, and a respect for all aspects of theater.

Now in our 29th season, Orlando Shakes produces a 10-show season and has an annual operating budget of $3,300,000. We employ professionals from around the country, including members of Actors Equity Association, United Scenic Artists and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.

If you want to work and collaborate with one of the nations best Shakespeare theaters, this apprenticeship is for you!

Housing is NOT available and you must have your own vehicle.

The apprenticeship includes a monthly stipend (currently $1000 per month) to defray living expenses.

Positions run late July through early May. At this time Summer positions are not offered.

ALL APPRENTICESHIPS ARE FULL TIME - 10 MONTH POSITIONS You must be available for the entire season in order to be considered.

We are seeking Apprentices in the following areas:

Scenic Carpenter Apprentice

Scenic Carpenter Apprentices are part of our scene shop and work extensively in carpentry. Apprentices assist with the construction of all scenic elements. This may include carpentry, metal work, and automation. Scenic Apprentices also are part of the running crew for select productions. Time is split with approximately 40% spent running shows and 60% spent in the shop.
