Design Foundry, an event design, and d+eacute;cor company based in Hyattsville, MD, is looking to add to its growing event designer/project management team to assist with the advancing and installation of scenic and d+eacute;cor for a variety of events. This position will be part of an existing team and is geared for an entry level theatre or event professional looking to expand their experience and knowledge base in the event field, with the opportunity for future growth within the company. The ideal candidate has a jack of all trades background with experience in or knowledge of design, paint, materials, and techniques as it relates to scenic design and construction, and a general knowledge of the installation and rigging of scenic materials. Assistants will be expected to execute assigned tasks as well as take charge of individual projects when necessary including the ability to supervise and lead crews, interact with clients and multitask.
Job Duties;
Assist project managers on a day to day basis with the planning and implementation of a variety of events from corporate to political, social events and galas.
Supervise quality control of items being produced for events in our production shops.
Work with production manager for sourcing rental items, materials, and other needed items for events.
Assist project managers with the onsite supervision of event installations and strikes.
Assist in creating proposals for potential events including design, image research, costing and budgeting.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience
1-3 years work or educational based experience in one or more of the following; Theatrical production, Event Production, Supervisory or Management role (of a team, crew, shift, etc..), Design (applies to a variety of backgrounds), Or similar applicable experience
Vectorworks or AutoCAD drafting experience a plus.
Computer competency on the MAC platform. Including Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
Extremely detailed oriented, organized, and calm in stressful situations.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Valid Drivers License.
Work Week:
Office hours are generally 9-5 Monday through Friday, but evening and weekend work will be required for installation and strike of events. Some out of town travel will also be required of the position. Workweeks vary from 40-60 hours.
Salary:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary will be paid bi-weekly. The position comes with health benefits, and 15 PTO days, which begin after a 90-day probationary period.
