The Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts at Pepperdine University invites applications for a full-time Production Manager. Pepperdine University is a private Christian university in Malibu, California where students are strengthened for lives of purpose, service, and leadership. The Center for the Arts includes the 450-seat Smothers Theatre, the 118-seat Raitt Recital Hall, the 100-seat Lindhurst Theatre, and the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art.

The Production Manager is responsible for supervision of technical operations for the Center of the Arts and is responsible for implementing successful events and supervising student and overhire technical staff. This position reports to and assists the Director of Production in handling all of the technical needs at the Center for the Arts. The person in this position is responsible for working with guest artists and technicians to ensure high quality productions while maintaining a safe and pleasant working atmosphere.

- Supervise, setup, and mix Front of House and Monitors for concerts, theatrical events, and other productions.
- Supervise student and overhire crew for set-up, performance, strike, and maintenance of all events.
- Serve as lead technician when necessary for Center of the Arts event, including operating lighting, sound, video, and rigging systems.
- Train technical staff on safe and efficient back of house functions, including light board and sound board operation, running fly system, and other technical duties as necessary.
- Communicating with Center for the Arts and Fine Arts staff on scheduling and theatre production needs.
- Reviews plans for production elements of Center for the Arts presentations, university events, and community events in Smothers Theatre, Raitt Recital Hall, and Lindhurst Theatre.
- Rent and purchase technical equipment and materials, for shows and facility improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: BA in Technical Theatre or the equivalent. 3-5 years professional experience in Technical Theatre. Expert knowledge of audio setup and mixing. Experience supervising unskilled theatre technicians; expert in professional theatre protocol; working knowledge of stage management, lighting, and rigging. Must possess a strong ability to identify and correct safety hazards and be proactive about safety concerns within the theatrical/event setting. Knowledge of front of house and monitor concert sound systems. Common theatre technologies including lighting consoles and equipment, sound consoles and equipment, counterweight fly system, Mac and PC computers, Qlab, and lifts (personnel and scissor).
Preferred: 5-10 years professional experience in Technical Theatre. Experience in supervising university students; experience in lighting and sound design for theatre, expert knowledge of stage management, lighting, rigging, and sound; electronics repair. Experience with Yamaha CL and L'Acoustics Wifo equipment and ETC Ion and NET3 systems, moving lights (installation, maintenance, and programming).
