The Chicago Fringe Festival (CFF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a unique opportunity for artists and patrons alike to perform and enjoy intimate, boundary-pushing theatre. We produce an uncensored and non-juried festival which showcases 50 performing groups (almost or over 200 performances, depending on the year!) over nine days in five non-traditional and theatrical spaces. All performers are selected by first come, first serve and lottery. We return 100% of our ticket sales to the artists. And we keep the tickets prices low to provide access to the arts to the widest audience possible. Established in 2010, CFF is currently produced by an all-volunteer staff which is dedicated to furthering the mission of CFF in this rapidly expanding stage of our history. Working with CFF is a great way to get involved with a fun and hard-working group of arts administrators and producers, to have a direct and immediate impact on the success of the festival through a collaborative but empowering work environment, to develop valuable skills and experience, and/or to connect with a wide range of artists, community members, business owners, etc.

The Production Manager is a year-round staff position that oversees production activities specific to the creation and operation of Festival venues and site infrastructure for the annual presentation of the Chicago Fringe Festival. This position works closely with the Artist Relations Manager, Technical Director and Associate Production Manager. This position will manage scheduling and the financial resources specific to production activities. The Production Manager will also assist in acquiring and maintaining all resources necessary for each position within the production team to fulfill their respective duties and responsibilities. The Production Manager reports to the Executive and Managing Directors and works closely with all Fringe staffers.

Collaborate with the Managing Director, Technical Director, and Associate Production Manager to oversee all production logistics of Festival.
Secure and contract all five Fringe venues.
Coordinate with the Executive Director and Managing Director to secure all needed permits and fulfill all requirements to maintain those permits.
Coordinate with the Technical Director set up and management of Fringe run venues, including lighting, staging, sound and other equipment, and Associate Production Manager on the stage management program.
Work with the Technical Director to hire the needed seasonal staff positions.
Manage the Production budget and all associated paperwork and receipts.
Create and implement production schedules for all Festival events.
Create a schedule of set-up, load-out, and tech rehearsals for all Festival venues.
Work with the Associate Production Manager to coordinate all trainings for stage management volunteers and interns.
Communicate and coordinate with incoming artists, in conjunction with the Artist Relations Manager, to ensure the incoming shows will work safely within the allocated venues.
Oversee the development and implementation of safety planning for all Festival-run events and venues.
Run the equipment rental program in the off-season with the Technical Director.

Strong organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail.
A good working knowledge of event and/or performance production and management.
Creative and flexible in response to problem solving.
Self-motivated with willingness to contribute ideas.
Great team attitude and ability to work and communicate on-deadline in a virtual environment.
Proven track record of solid work performance in past jobs and reliable attendance. A mastery of Google and Google docs, MS Office Pro, and strong acuity with computers.
Familiarity with Fringe festivals a plus.

Time Commitment:
This position requires approximately 5 hours per week in the off-season and 10+ hours a week in June-August. Then 8+ hours a day during set up, the festival, and tear down (Aug. 23 Sept. 12). Monthly meetings and the post-mortem in October are mandatory.
